Our Values

God-centered worship

We believe that it is possible, and even easy, in worship to allow songs, personal preferences, styles, and traditions to become the focus of our worship. Valuing worship that is centered on God guards us against worshiping smaller and unsatisfying things that ultimately place mankind at the center of our worship, thus leading us to worship the creation rather that the Creator himself. We believe the first calling for every believer and the purpose for which we were created is to worship Almighty God in all His fullness and beauty. We desire that our personal worship be faithful and growing and that our corporate worship be authentic, passionate, and God-centered in all aspects. Biblical worship should be God-centered and indigenous to our community. We want our worship to be "faithful" to both the present culture of Henry County and to the heritage of the historical Church.

Sound and relevant teaching

Relevant and dynamic teaching of God's word is a catalyst for personal growth. We believe that there is such a thing as absolute truth and we hold to the authority and inspiration of Scripture. We believe that the gospel story is clearly seen throughout the Bible. It is our desire that all believers learn that they are called to be "workman equipped for every good work" as they apply the truth of Scripture to their lives. At South Point Church all of our teaching and equipping will be based on God's Word, and we desire to communicate it in such a fashion that not only our minds are challenged, but also our hearts are inspired.

Deep personal relationships

All of life is lived out in relationships. Ministry is done in the context of community (Small groups, team ministry, relational evangelism, and fellowship). We have a love for our neighborhoods in Henry County. We believe every person was created to live in community and be connected to others with purpose, freedom, and assurance in life's important issues. We are real people searching for real answers together. We desire to have "life on life" ministry occurring in the church body where God is doing exciting things in the lives of His people, not just programs, through intimate and authentic relationships.

Serving our community

South Point Church has a passion to address non-believers with intelligence, warmth, and respect in every part of our ministry. We will strive to be creatively evangelistic in every dimension. We must always remember what it is like not to believe. We strive to practice all aspects of our ministry "before the nations," expecting to be overheard. We will not privatize our faith but help Christians work with excellence and kingdom distinctiveness that engages the culture. We encourage Christians to engage our culture and not to retreat from it or simply create an alternative Christian subculture. We desire to engage our culture not just with what we say but also with what we do, therefore we will serve our community and join hand with ministries with this purpose (Pregnancy Resource Center, Helping In His Name Food Pantry, Feed My People,...). South Point Church is committed to ministering to anyone interested in knowing more about Christ, no matter where they are in their spiritual journey - those who are convinced, those who are perplexed, or those who are skeptical. We welcome the questions, objections, and problems of thoughtful people, and are committed to responding with honesty and intelligence, not hostility or condescension. We accomplish this through worship services designed to both build up believers and challenge and help the spiritually uncommitted; through in-depth teaching so that the deepest questions of faith and life are asked and answered with all the fullness of the historic Christian faith; and by being a welcoming community, so that newcomers can personally see and process the reality of Christ among us. But, most importantly, we keep an outward face and a focus on ministering to the needs of the people of Henry County.

Biblical Approach to Ministry

Biblical ministry begins with prayer, is led by the Holy Spirit, is done within the context of teams, and is outwardly faced. Biblical ministry, and all of the Christian life, is lived through repentance and faith in the application of the gospel. We will be more than just a church that implements programs. We believe that every Christian is called to serve and minister in the power of the gospel. We seek to equip the saints to do kingdom work and fulfill their callings through their giftedness. We encourage empowered teams and entrepreneurship in ministry. Our leadership will seek to "give away" ministry and not to hoard it. In all of our ministry teams at South Point Church, we want to "flesh out" a biblical picture of the gospel that avoids both legalism and liberalism, moralism and pragmatism.

Trusting God big

God honors vision that honors Him. Great things happen when we radically align our vision with the purposes of God. At SPC we value trusting God Big and having a "Big Faith". It is our desire that in all of what we do, we are trusting God in big ways.
